Objects & Purposes

The WRAAF Branch Brisbane is a branch of the Australian Flying Corps and Royal Australian Air Force Association, Queensland Division (RAAF Association).

The short title of the Division is “Royal Australian Air Force Association, Queensland Division” and is usually abbreviated to “RAAFA Qld Div”.
The RAAF Association was established to foster the spread of friendship formed in service and perpetuate the honour and ideals of the Royal Australian Air Force and other designated services.   It is a non-profit organisation.

The WRAAF Branch is also known as the “WR’s” to distinguish us from our wartime sister service, the Women’s Australian Auxiliary Air Force (WAAAF) or also known as the “triple A’s.  The WAAAF Branch was previously a member of the RAAF Association Qld Division but as their numbers have declined those remaining are now part of the Headquarters List of the RAAF Association Qld Division.

As the WRAAF Branch is part of the RAAF Association, we subscribe to the objects and purposes of the RAAF Association Queensland Division which are to:

  1. promote and maintain the welfare and benefit of members, ex-members of Her Majesty’s Air Forces and their dependants and other persons approved under the Division’s constitution;

  2. render unswerving loyalty to Australia, its system of government and its institutions and respect for the National Flag; and

  3. honour and preserve the memory of comrades who have died.

Membership is open to all serving and ex-RAAF, WRAAF and members of other Air Forces.

The WRAAF Branch Brisbane is the largest Branch in the RAAFA Queensland Division with nearly 100 members.  Our Branch elects 3-4 delegates and 1 proxy to the RAAFA State Qld Council each year at our AGM in January and these delegates attend RAAFA State Council meetings during the year and report back to the Branch at branch meetings.
